Justin Geilear
Howdy! My name is Justin Geilear and I am a Junior at
Western Kentucky University studying Business Economics. After I complete my undergraduate, I plan on pursuing a graduate degree in applied economics at WKU.
I first heard about Bike4Alz my first semester of college and instantly became interested. Biking across the country seemed like something out of a documentary, yet here we are; doing it, not only to raise money and awareness for a cause that many of us hold dear, but also as an opportunity to push ourselves. 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and countless more families are affected. My family is one of those, with three of my grandmothers’ siblings previously diagnosed and a more recent diagnosis for my grandfather. Alzheimer’s disease takes the people you knew and leaves them unable to take care of themselves or even recognize their own family and caretakers. The disease is increasing at an alarming rate and doctors predict that there will be over 14 million diagnosed with the disease by 2050. I was a part of team 8 and our ride was canceled because of COVID. Although a year has passed, my reason for riding remains unchanged…
I am riding for my Grandfather, great uncles, aunts, and all those families affected by this disease. I am riding to #EndAlz
