Yesterday, the team finished our journey through beautiful Utah. After our stay at Delta High School and the trip through Lyndyll, we made it to Saratoga Springs and stayed in South Jordan in Salt Lake City. The next day, June 6, was our first rest day in nine days, the longest stretch of biking we do on the whole trip. On our rest day, we visited the Great Salt Lake and got some much-needed rest and relaxation. When we hopped back on our bikes on June 7, we rode to Heber City, where we camped at the Mountain Valley RV Resort. While there, many members of the team rediscovered and downloaded Trivia Crack to help pass the time.

From Heber City, we rode to Strawberry, near the city of Duschene. On the way in, we passed the Strawberry Reservoir and camped at the Lakeside RV Campground that night. While there, the team was befriended by the campground’s resident cat, fought off mosquitoes, and was confused by the slimy water (apparently, the high salt content does that). From Strawberry, we rode to Vernal and stayed at the Vernal Christian Church. The team gained a member after we found a lizard, specifically, a greater short-horned lizard named “Fish”. Now, much of our free time is occupied by either feeding or watching him.

From Vernal, we rode into Colorado. The first town we stopped in was Rangely, and we stayed at the Rangely Christian Church, where the churchgoers kindly fed us. This morning, June 11, we started our longest ride of the trip so far, roughly 105 miles from Rangely to Craig, including some of the most beautiful scenery I have seen on our rides. Having accomplished that, the team is feeling very confident, fit, and ready to take on whatever else our trek throws at us. However, thankfully, our ride to Steamboat Springs tomorrow is short, so we should have plenty of time to recover.
