Kody Okert

Hello! My name is Kody Okert! I am from Hendersonville, TN and am majoring in Corporate and Organizational Communication with a minor in Business administration at Western Kentucky University. I am excited to make the 8th ride with Bike4Alz this summer!

I first heard of Bike4Alz when I transferred to WKU in the fall of 2017. I knew immediately this was something I wanted to be a part of. Alzheimer’s Disease hits very close to my heart, having affected my grandmother and my great-grandmother. Having to essentially watch my grandmother die twice was one of the hardest things for my family to go through. Alzheimer’s Disease is
something I would never wish upon someone or their family however sadly six million Americans have been diagnosed with this horrible disease. The pain it brought is something I will never forget, but the love and compassion it showed me is something I hope to carry with me on this trip and show to everyone we meet!

I cannot wait for this summer to ride not only in honor of my grandmother but for all those who have been affected by this horrible disease. I hope and pray that during our journey from California to Virginia, God will protect us and keep us safe as we work to finally end this terrible disease.
